Summer Sports & Activities

At Westcott we encourage children to participate in sport and extra-mural activities.

We offer a wide variety of extramural and cultural activities, designed to cater for the individual.

During summer we offer the following sports and activities:

  • Tennis & Mini-tennis
  • Cricket & Mini-cricket
  • Art Club

Cricket

  • Three teams
  • u/10, u/11, u/13
  • As well as mini – cricket for grade 3 boys and girls

Winter Sports & Activities

66% of the Westcott team made the Western Cape Volleyball team!
A great achievement!

At Westcott we encourage children to participate in sport and extramural activities.

We offer a wide variety of extramural and cultural activities, designed to cater for the individual.

During winter we offer the following sports and activities:

  • Soccer
  • Netball
  • Cross country
  • Chess

All extra – mural sport activities from 14:45 – 15:45

Soccer

Five soccer teams from u/9 to u/13.

  • u/9 – Grade 3 boys and girls participate in 7-a-side matches. (Mini – Soccer)
  • A girls' soccer team from Grade 4 to Grade 7.
  • A girls' soccer league which commences as of the 3rd term

Netball

  • Four netball teams from u/10 – u/13
  • Mini – netball for grade 3 girls, not focused on matches but teaching them the basic skills.

Cross country

  • From grade 3 to grade 7 boys and girls
  • Practices are held on Wednesdays and races on Fridays.

Chess

  • Junior and senior chess groups

Culture & Arts

These activities are available all year round!

We offer a wide variety of extramural and cultural activities, designed to cater for the individual.

All year activities include:

  • Choir
  • General Knowledge
  • Drama (paid for separately)
  • Karate (paid for separately)
  • Play Ball (paid for separately)
  • Swimming (paid for separately)
  • Rugga Roots (paid for separately)

Computer Programming & Literacy

Our Computer Lab uses the curriculum to support what the learners do in the classroom, using information technology and literacy to complete their tasks.  All grades, from Grade R to Grade 7, attend computer classes at least once per week.  On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the learners may attend Senior and Junior Computer Club respectively.  At these clubs, the learners study computer science, coding and robotics, which includes the use of Sphero and Bee-bot.
